How it all began...

Rebecca Todd
In October of 2006, I took my first steps to help raise awareness and monetary donations for breast cancer in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.  I had wanted to do the walk years before, but I didn't think I could raise the $2300 minimum in order to participate.  Now in 2011, I am walking for my 6th consecutive year!  I discovered with some hard work and dedication, the $2300 minimum can be raised over and over again.  I found two things I'm passionate about (my love for dogs and running) and created fundraisers around them.  That's how The Paws For A Cure Pet Show and Kiss It Goodbye 5K Run/Walk (formally known as The Pink Ribbon Run)  began.

I had received emails from Susan G. Komen about the 3-Day in the past, but I never felt it was something I would be able to do.  In 2009, a friend, who is a 2-time survivor, asked me if I would consider walking with her, so I joined her team. Since no one on our team had ever participated, we needed some guidance. Luckily, a veteran participant (Rebecca) joined our team. She gave me the inspiration I needed to raise the minimum. I enjoyed fundraising with Rebecca and walking in the 3-Day so much that we formed Tickled Pink for a Cure, and I will be walking my 2nd consecutive year!
